McDonnell F-101B Voodoo "Voodoo Patrol"
The McDonnell F-101B Voodoo was one of the fastest fighters in the USAF inventory. Used by the Air Defense Command, Voodoo crews were tasked with intercepting Soviet bombers from bases in the northern tier of the United States.
Built in St. Louis, Missouri, the Voodoo and her crews claimed several records after the aircraft entered service, including a transcontinental speed record (Los Angeles, to New York, and back in six hours and 46 minutes), and an absolute speed record (1,207.6 MPH). The aircraft had an initial climb rate of over 35,000 feet per minute, and was armed with nuclear-tipped missiles or rockets.
