"The Happy Hooligans"
From 1969 to 1977 the 178th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the North Dakota Air National Guard, better known as "The Happy Hooligans", flew the McDonnell F-101B long range interceptor. Based at Hector International Field in Fargo, North Dakota, the Hooligans were one of several Air Defense Command squadrons which protected North America from potentially hostile Soviet aircraft. Since 1973, as part of the 119th Fighter Wing, they helped achieve the distinction of flying 115,000 hours in fighter aircraft without a Class A Mishap (an unprecidented achievement in any U. S. fighter unit!).
My artwork depicts a flight of three F-101B interceptors flown by the "Hooligans", climbing over the hills of North Dakota. Presented as a 20" x 30" poster print on heavy weight, low sheen paper.
