“High Altitude Hustle,” by John Matthews

“High Altitude Hustle” is a limited edition fine art print that features a USAF Strategic Air Command  Convair B-58 Hustler intercontinental bomber cruising at high altitude over a hazy sky of broken clouds.

B-58 Hustler development began in 1950 when the U.S. Air Force contracted Fort Worth, Texas, aircraft manufacturer Convair to design an intercontinental bomber to strike targets at speeds in excess of Mach One. The B-58 began as a parasite aircraft that would make a supersonic dash to the target to drop its nuclear bomb pod. It was later redesigned as a conventional bomber with air refueling.

Convair won a Phase 1 contract in 1952 and the aircraft was given the designation B-58. The Hustler took its first flight on November 11, 1956. After the plane’s acceptance by the USAF, Hustler aircrews wasted no time breaking speed records and winning major aeronautical trophies (Bendix, Thompson, Bleriot, Harmon, and Mackay).

This fine art giclee print is limited to only 20 hand-signed and numbered editions. Each one is printed on 60 lb. acid-free archival paper. With proper care, the artwork’s colors will remain vibrant without yellowing or fading for years to come. I provide a Certificate of Authenticity with every limited edition print. Each COA bears my signature, the print number, and other information.
