“Bringing the Thunder” Repulbic F-105D Thunderchief

“Bringing the Thunder features a flight of four Republic F-105D Thunderchiefs climbing to meet a tanker before their strike mission. Fragged to hit a RP 6 target in North Vietnam, the “Thuds” carry 750 pound bombs and defensive Sidewinder missiles.

The F-105 was originally designed as a tactical nuclear bomber. Stationed in Europe during the Cold War, the Thunderchief’s mission was to launch and make a supersonic low-altitude dash into Russia. A nuclear bomb would be dropped from the plane’s internal bomb bay, after which the pilot would egress and hopefully land at a friendly airfield.

The Thud’s mission changed with the Vietnam War, and it became a conventional tactical bomber. The F-105 was the largest single-engine jet fighter/bomber. It could carry more ordinance than a WWII B-17 Flying Fortress. F-105s flew more bombing missions than any other aircraft type in Southeast Asia. Their strike missions took them into the most heavily defended and dangerous targets in North Vietnam.

“Bringing the Thunder” is a limited edition fine art giclee print. Only 20 hand-signed and numbered editions are available. Each is printed on 60 lb. acid-free archival paper so colors stay vibrant for many, many years to come. Each print is accompanied by a Certification of Authenticity, which bears my signature, the print number, and other information.
